Formary Works is an independent digital-product business founded and operated by Michael Roberts.
Michael oversees product research, development, publishing, and business operations. Each product is researched, built, checked, and listed by the business itself rather than licensed or resold.
Formary Works creates practical digital tools and resources intended to help people manage real-life tasks and systems. The work is deliberately narrow: take an ordinary job that households and classrooms actually have to do, and build something usable for it.
The currently published products are concentrated in two areas. Teacher Resources covers emergency substitute teacher kits for Grade 3, Grade 4, and Grade 5, plus a Grades 3 & 4 bundle. Home & Household covers recurring household administration, including the Family Budget Operating System and the First-Year Homeowner Command Center. Alongside those, Formary Works also evaluates practical tools for other recurring real-life and small-business tasks — work in progress is listed on the Upcoming page.
All Formary Works products are digital downloads sold and delivered through our Etsy shop, which is the source of truth for current price and purchase details. This site is where the products are described in full.
Our approach
How we intend to work
Start from a real task
We aim to build for jobs households already have — paying bills, planning a month, keeping records — rather than inventing a process to adopt.
Aim for usable
Our intention is that a tool can be picked up and used without specialist training.
Avoid unnecessary complexity
We try to leave out anything that adds steps without adding clarity.
Yours to adjust
Where a tool uses lists and names, we intend for them to belong to the person using it. In FBOS, categories, income sources, payment methods, and Paid By names are customizable.
Documented plainly
We describe what a product does, in the words of what it does, and nothing beyond that.
Honest about status
We state what a product does, where it stands, and where it can be bought.
